Accommodation

Registration to Pain in Europe XII must be submitted online through the Congress website. Further details, such as deadlines, costs, terms and conditions, can be found here. Please note that booking accommodation together with registration is not available anymore. To find out more about available accommodation we recommend checking booking.com.

CAUTION: Be aware of fraudulent individuals and companies that claim to offer registration for Pain in Europe XII and hotel accommodation in Dublin through fraudulent websites and/or by contacting you directly via email. These fraudulent agencies will look similar to the official EFIC 2022 Pain in Europe XII but are not. The only official agency handling registration and accommodation is K.I.T. Group GmbH located in Berlin, Germany. The only email addresses you should communicate with will end in @efic.org or @kit-group.org.

App

The Pain in Europe XII Congress mobile app allows delegates to have access to all congress data from any mobile device. The mobile app includes the scientific programme, sponsor and exhibitor details and additional information regarding the Congress. It is available for Apple iOS, Android and Windows Phone and supports smart phones as well as tablet computers.

Attendance Policy

All congress activities (including the Opening Ceremony, all scientific sessions, workshops, industry supported sessions, coffee breaks, exhibition area, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered delegates. Nonregistered guests (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) are not allowed in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.

Admittance for persons aged under 18

In respect to European laws and regulations, as well as due to current health and safety, registration and/or admittance to the EFIC® Congress Pain in Europe XII hall be limited solely to delegates who are 18 years of age or older. Registration by anyone who is under 18 is unauthorised and violation of these terms and conditions will automatically result in the forfeit of their registration. Identification is to be provided to congress staff upon request. Delegates below 18 years of age will not be granted access to any part of the congress at any time. This is also valid for children accompanied by their parents and for any other unregistered person. If access to the congress is needed and no registration is available, the person should contact the registration desk for support.

Badges

Badges (only for physical attendance)

All delegates and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the congress to be admitted to the lecture halls, exhibition area and scheduled activities. Name badges can be picked up at the registration area located on the entrance level. If a registered delegate has lost or misplaced their name badge, there will be a fee to re-print the badge, regardless of the reason. The delegate will be asked to show a photo identification to have the badge re-printed. The fee of €30.00 must be paid at the time of re-printing, either with a credit card or cash. Your badge may be scanned for certificate of attendance purposes, as well as by exhibitors, for database purposes. If you allow your EFIC® 2022 Congress badge to be scanned by an exhibitor/sponsor, you thereby agree that your personal data (name, contact data, address data, organisation), collected by the congress organiser, may be forwarded or the exhibitor / sponsor by whom you have your badge scanned, and EFIC® or the respective company may contact you directly for its own purposes. For your other rights, please read the congress privacy policy you agreed upon in the registration process or under www.efic-congress.org.

Certificate of Attendance

Your certificate will be delivered electronically after completing the educational evaluation procedure online via the virtual congress platform. The link to complete the evaluation will be clearly visible on the platform home page. The certificate will include your CME credits. There will be no paper or physical certificate provided on-site. To receive the maximum number of credits for the hours spent at the congress, onsite or online you should attend the sessions and report the hours spent in sessions accurately within the evaluation form.

Charging Stations

Charging stations for smartphones and mobile devices are available in the Exhibition Area in the EFIC booth. Please bring an adapter in order to use the Irish plug-in system.

Cloakroom & Luggage Storage

The cloakroom / luggage storage, where you may store your things on a day-to-day basis free of charge, is located near the main entrance. The European Pain Federation EFIC®, the congress organisers, and the venue do not assume responsibility for items left at the cloakroom. Anything left here overnight will be taken to Lost & Found. Disclosure and resolution of personal conflicts of interest

In accordance with CME/CPD accreditation criteria and standards for commercial support to ensure balance, independence, objectivity, and scientific rigor, those in control of the educational content must disclose potential or actual conflicts of interest. Disclosure information will be evaluated, and conflicts of interest will be resolved. Disclosure will be made available to delegates prior to the activity. Delegates will be asked on the evaluation to assess the objectivity and independence of the event. Disclosure information will be available online at least a week prior to the start of the Pain in Europe XII.

Industry Support Disclosure

This event is supported, in part, by funding from Industry. All support is managed in strict accordance with CME/CPD accreditation criteria and standards for commercial support. Appropriate acknowledgement of all supporting organisations is made in the mini-programme, on the event website, and with signage during the event. COVID-19 Protection Measures

By registering for the Pain in Europe XII Congress, you accept the provisions of the currently valid version of the SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Ordinance of the Irish Government and City of Dublin and the provisions of the Infection Protection Act. Currency

All official Congress prices are indicated in Euro (€). The official currency in Dublin is the Euro. All major credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Exchange rates are available on: https://www.oanda.com/lang/de/currency/converter/.

Dates

Pain in Europe XII will take place starting on Wednesday, 27 April 2022 until Saturday, 30 April 2022.

Delegates

More than 1.500 delegates (in-person and online) from all over the world will participate in the Congress. In previous years, just under 50% of attendees were in clinical practice, while over 25% were in basic or clinical research.

Documenting/Recording

Any form of duplication (recording, audio taping, photography and / or video) of sessions, posters, slides or any other medium, including the virtual congress platform is prohibited without expressed written consent of the author and congress organiser. Please do not use your mobile device to duplicate or record any sessions or scientific content. We kindly ask that delegates DO NOT photograph, record, film or use a cell phone to capture images of presentations or posters at any time during the Congress, as well as on the poster and exhibition floors. Please note that you may be photographed, videotaped, and/or recorded during the Congress by the official Pain in Europe XII photography or video team. To protect, among other things, the personal information of our delegates, you agree not to reproduce, perform, display, or upload any photographs of sessions and presentations.

  • Describe research investigations on nociception and pain pharmacology

EFIC TV Sessions

EFIC TV will be where we interview speakers and key opinion leaders in pain science with our dedicated team of pain science communication specialists. Interviews will take place across the schedule of the congress, mainly during the programme breaks to allow audience participation. Interviews will be broadcast to the virtual congress audience, who will be able to interact remotely. EFIC TV will allow you to ask questions to plenary speakers, the EFIC President, EJP Editor and others. The EFIC TV area is located in the center of the Exhibition Area directly in front of the EFIC Village.

EXHIBITION ACCESS FOR PATIENTS AND PATIENT ADVOCATES IS RESTRICTED

For medical congresses taking place in Europe, all delegates as well as all contributors are subject to European laws, rules and regulations clarified by the ‘Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 November 2011 on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use.’ The relevant European laws, rules and regulations and their Irish application clearly state that: Patients and patient advocates should have no access to the areas where prescription medicines are promoted and should not receive any materials containing product advertisements (irrespective of their nationality). Patients and Patient Advocates will be asked to follow a specifically indicated route within the Exhibition Area to access the food outlets, poster exhibition, the Open Theatre, and the EFIC® Village.

Film, Video & Footage

Please be advised that photographs and video recording may be taken at the Pain in Europe XII congress. By participating in the congress, you consent to the publication, release, exhibition or reproduction of such photos to be used for the European Pain Federation EFIC® website, blog, social media and promotion of future congresses. By entering the Congress, you agree to each of the following:

  • You consent to be photographed, filmed and or otherwise recorded in connection with, or as part of EFIC® journalistic, advertising, marketing, promotional, archival and/or security activities;
  • You consent to such photography, filming and / or recording and to any use, in any and all media throughout the world in perpetuity, without compensation to you, of your appearance, voice and /or name for the above noted purposes;
  • You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on these consents given by you by entering the Congress.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed via the official Congress photography and video team, kindly inform representatives of your preference.

Hot and cold snacks and drinks are offered daily at the food stations in the exhibition area during the exhibition opening hours. Lunch is served daily from 12:00 in the Food Court within the Exhibition Area, meals cost between 7-15 euros.

A meal ticket can be purchased on-site, or better yet, in advance online to avoid waiting in line – please use the following link https://onlineorders.theccd.ie/iebms/SOPSEC/Default.aspx. Using event ID #41780, you can select “Proceed to Banquet and Concert Ordering.” From here you will be directed to the menu selection and can choose your food and beverages per day. Prepayment will be made when invoiced through the CCD. You can also pay on site by credit card and cash. You will find the CCD Catering Team at a booth in the registration area and in the Food Court in the exhibition area.

The daily coffee breaks will be held in the exhibition area. As the exhibition area is closed on Saturday, coffee breaks and lunch will be served in the Level 1 / Liffey Level lobby.

Health & Safety

How To Get There

Plane

There is just one airport in Dublin. The distance between the airport and the city centre is 12km. Dublin Airport is the first airport in Ireland to achieve carbon neutral status and has done so following an extensive programme of activities to reduce and offset its carbon emissions in recent years.

Ferry

You can arrive in Dublin by ferry. There are several websites available to book your ticket: Irish FerriesStena LineP&O Ferries. More information can be found on the Dublin Port Company website.

Liability & Insurance

EFIC®, the congress organisers and the congress venue cannot accept liability for personal injury, accidents, loss or damages to private property of delegates, either during or indirectly arising from EFIC Congress 2022 “Pain in Europe XII”. Delegates are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their travels and stay in Dublin.

Literature Centre

Partner Organisations who would like to promote their upcoming meetings and/or programmes are invited to display materials at the Literature Centre, located in the Exhibition Area, near the posters.

Lost & Found

Anything left in the congress venue overnight, the cloakroom, or found in any of the meeting rooms will be brought to Liffey Meeting Room 4 (K.I.T. Group Office). Please ask at the Registration Counter for assistance.

All participants registered for physical attendance are invited to attend.

Non-Registered Persons

All event activities (including educational sessions, meal functions, exhibit hall, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered attendees. Non-registered persons (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) will not be permitted in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.

Opening Session & Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony is the official starting point of the Pain in Europe XII Congress and will be followed by the Networking Reception in the Exhibition Area. The Networking Reception provides a wonderful opportunity for you to greet old friends and meet new ones. All participants registered for physical attendance are invited to attend.

Phones

Phones should be on silent mode during all sessions. Please do not forget to bring an adapter in order to charge your phone. Smartphones may be required in order to participate in some of the Q&A sessions. Please download the congress App, which can be used on both Apple and Android phones.

Press

The EFIC Congress Press Room is available for members of the press. Journalists, writers or bloggers may register and attend Pain in Europe XII, however media accreditation for the Congress will only be awarded to those able to demonstrate that they work for a recognised media organisation and/or that they are on an official assignment from a recognised media organisation. All media delegates are encouraged to apply for accreditation in advance for a smoother check-in experience and ensured entry. EFIC® reserves the right to accept or reject any request for media credentials.

Press registration

To register as a media representative, please contact the EFIC-Registration Team at efic-registration@kit-group.org in order to receive a media registration form. Please note, to register as a media representative, you must submit a copy of your official press ID.

Registration

Once the registration has been completed, a confirmation will be sent via email. On site participants can pick up their registration credentials at the Registration Area located on the Ground Floor of the Convention Center Dublin (CCD). You may scan the barcode on your registration confirmation to self-print your badge, or you may visit the counter and have it printed for you.

Pain in Europe XII is a strictly non-smoking event. Please only smoke in the areas designated to doing so.

Located at the Convention Center Dublin, Level 2, Wicklow Meeting Room 3. We ask that all speakers come to the Speakers Service Centre as soon as possible to hand in their presentations, at the very latest 2 hours before your scheduled session.

Multi-disciplinary pain specialists; scientists, physicians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists and other health- care professionals are the target audience for Pain in Europe XII. The diverse, clinically focused offering allows delegates to tailor curriculum to needs of international clinicians of all levels of experience.

Tourist Information

There is a tourist information point located on the left side of the Entrance Foyer on the Ground Level. You may visit the Dublin Tourist Info desk during the congress general opening times. You will also find a tourist point at the Dublin Airport, as well as multiple places in the city center.

Venue

The Convention Centre Dublin was developed to provide a world-class conference venue in the heart of Ireland’s capital city. Located just 15 minutes from the airport in Dublin’s Docklands, the finance and technology hub of the city, it is Ireland’s only purpose-built convention centre, located in the heart of Dublin city. Designed by Pritzker award-winning Irish-born architect Kevin Roche, The CCD quickly became a landmark building on Dublin’s skyline when it opened in 2010. Its stunning glass-fronted atrium gives visitors panoramic views of the River Liffey, Dublin city centre and the Wicklow mountains. The Pain in Europe XII Congress virtual platform allows delegates,  both onsite and online to have access to the virtual Congress experience, view the Congress programme live during the Congress days and on demand afterwards. The platform will allow Congress participants online and onsite to communicate, actively participate in sessions and ask questions, view and converse with poster presenters and network with colleagues in the online networking lounge. Weather In Dublin

Dublin is a coastal city with a temperate climate. Spring sees balmy conditions ranging from 3ºC to 15ºC. Summer temperatures range from 9ºC to 20ºC. Autumn temperatures in Dublin range between 4ºC and 17ºC and winter temperatures from 2ºC to 9ºC. Throughout the end of April when the EFIC congress is being held, Dublin enjoys bright, crisp days as it gets closer to summer.
