Accommodation

 

Registration to Pain in Europe XI must be submitted online through the Congress website. Further details, such as deadlines, costs, terms and conditions, can be found here. We offer special accommodation rates for registered participants and will assist you to find a suitable hotel for your stay and handle your reservation. Please note that the prices of accommodation are not included in the registration fees. To find out more information about available accommodation, the hotels available can be found using the registration system.

CAUTION: Be aware of fraudulent individuals and companies that claim to offer registration for Pain in Europe XI and hotel accommodation in Valencia through fraudulent websites and/or by contacting you directly via email. These fraudulent agencies will look similar to the official EFIC 2019 Pain in Europe XI but are not. The only official agency handling registration and accommodation is K.I.T. Group GmbH located in Berlin, Germany. The only email addresses you should communicate with will end in @efic.org or @kit-group.org. To register as a media representative, please contact the Registration Department at efic2019-registration@kit-group.org in order to receive a media registration form. Please note, to register as a media representative, you must submit a copy of your official press card. Registrations for more than ten participants will be handled separately as a group booking. To register a group, please also refer to the mentioned email-address.

The Pain in Europe XI Congress mobile app allows delegates to have access to all congress data from any mobile device. The mobile app includes the scientific programme, sponsor and exhibitor details and additional information regarding the congress. Attendance Policy

 

All congress activities (including the Opening Ceremony, all scientific sessions, workshops, industry supported sessions, coffee breaks, Exhibition Area, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered delegates. Nonregistered guests (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) are not allowed in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.

Admittance for persons aged under 18

In respect of Spanish and European laws and regulations, as well as due to current health and safety rules and legislation in effect, registration and/or admittance to the EFIC® Congress Pain in Europe XI shall be limited solely to delegates who are 18 years of age or older. Registration by anyone who is under 18 is unauthorised and violation of these terms and conditions will automatically result in the forfeit of their registration. Identification is to be provided to congress staff upon request. Delegates below 18 years of age will not be granted access to any part of the congress at any time. This is also valid for children accompanied by their parents and for any other unregistered person. If access to the congress is needed and no registration is available, the person should contact the registration desk for support.

Badges

 

All delegates and exhibitors are required to wear their badges throughout the congress to be admitted to the lecture halls, Exhibition Area and scheduled activities. Name badges can be picked up at the registration area located on Level 4 (Main Entrance) of the Feria Valencia. If a registered delegate has lost or misplaced their name badge, there will be a fee to re-print the badge, regardless of the reason. The delegate will be asked to show a photo identification in order to have the badge re-printed. The fee of €30.00 must be paid at the time of re-printing, either with a credit card or cash. Your badge may be scanned for certificate of attendance purposes, as well as by exhibitors, for database purposes. If you allow your EFIC® 2019 Congress badge to be scanned by the congress staff or an exhibitor/sponsor, you thereby agree that your personal data (name, contact data, address data, organisation), collected by the congress organiser, may be forwarded to EFIC® or the exhibitor / sponsor by whom you have your badge scanned, and EFIC® or the respective company may contact you directly for its own purposes. For your other rights, please read the congress privacy policy you agreed upon in the registration process or under www.efic-congress.org.

Certificate of Attendance

 

Your certificate will be delivered electronically after completing the educational evaluation procedure online via the link you will receive following the Pain in Europe XI congress. There will be no paper or physical certificate provided on-site. To receive the maximum number of credits for the hours spent at the congress, you must have scanned your badge twice daily at the designated scanning points. If a delegate did not have their badge scanned, the delegate will receive a certificate of attendance with no credits indicated.

Charging Stations

 

Charging stations for smartphones and mobile devices are available in the Exhibition Area as well as in the 2nd level foyer.

Cloakroom & Luggage Storage

The cloakroom / luggage storage, where you may store your things on a day-to-day basis free of charge, is located near the main entrance behind the Valencia Information Desk. The European Pain Federation EFIC®, the congress organisers, and the venue do not assume responsibility for items left at the cloakroom. Anything left here overnight will be taken to Lost & Found. CME Accreditation

 

European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (UEMS/EACCME)

The 11th Congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC , Valencia, Spain, 04/09/2019-07/09/2019 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 26 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

American Medical Association (AMA)
Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Delegates

 

More than 4.000 delegates from all over the world will participate in the congress. In previous years, just under 50% of attendees were in clinical practice, while over 25% were in basic or clinical research.

Documenting/Recording

 

Any form of duplication (recording, audio taping, photography and / or video) of sessions is prohibited without expressed written consent of the author and congress organiser. Please do not use your mobile device to duplicate or record any sessions. We kindly ask that delegates DO NOT photograph, record, film or use a cell phone to capture images of presentations at any time during the congress, as well as on the poster and exhibition floors. Please note that you may be photographed, videotaped, and/or recorded during the congress by the official Pain in Europe XI photography or video team. To protect, among other things, the personal information of our delegates, you agree not to reproduce, perform, display, or upload any photographs of sessions and presentations.

Exhibition Access

 

EXHIBITION ACCESS FOR PATIENTS AND PATIENT ADVOCATES IS RESTRICTED

For medical congresses taking place in Europe, all delegates as well as all contributors are subject to European laws, rules and regulations clarified by the ‘Directive 2001/83/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 November 2011 on the Community code relating to medicinal products for human use.’ The relevant European laws, rules and regulations and their Spanish application clearly state that: Patients and patient advocates should have no access to the areas where prescription medicines are promoted and should not receive any materials containing product advertisements (irrespective of their nationality). Patients and Patient Advocates will be asked to follow a specifically indicated route within the Exhibition Area to access the food outlets, posters walks, e-posters stations, session halls (EFIC Hall and Hall 1B), the Open Auditorium, daily yoga sessions and the EFIC® Village.

Film, Video & Footage

 

Please be advised that photographs and video recording may be taken at the Pain in Europe XI congress. By participating in the congress, you consent to the publication, release, exhibition or reproduction of such photos to be used for the European Pain Federation EFIC® website, blog, social media and promotion of future congresses. By entering the congress, you agree to each of the following:

• You consent to be photographed, filmed and or otherwise recorded in connection with, or as part of EFIC® journalistic, advertising, marketing, promotional, archival and/or security activities;

• You consent to such photography, filming and / or recording and to any use, in any and all media throughout the world in perpetuity, without compensation to you, of your appearance, voice and /or name for the above noted purposes;

• You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on these consents given by you by entering the congress.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed via the official congress photography and video team, kindly inform representatives of your preference.

The First Aid room is located on the 1st level (lowest level of congress centre). 

Food & Beverage

 

The following food & beverage is included in the price of registration:

• Opening Ceremony, taking place at 18:15 on Wednesday, 4 September, in the EFIC Hall

• Daily coffee breaks, taking place inside the exhibition area on the lowest level

• Complimentary farewell lunch, taking place at 12:15 on Saturday, 7 September, in the 1st level foyer

All food & beverage will be served inside the Exhibition Area on the 1st level. Lunches are available for purchase for all congress delegates. Food stations will have daily warm (€12) and cold (€7) lunch options and drinks served starting at 12:00. A meal ticket can be purchased throughout the exhibition area at any time throughout the exhibition opening times.

You are welcome to visit the European Pain Federation EFIC® Village for a complimentary coffee and smoothies. Credit Cards (Visa & MasterCard) and cash will be accepted at the F&B stands.

Hashtag

 

Use the #EFIC2019 hashtag to let your friends and colleagues know you are participating in Pain in Europe XI! All photos with an event hashtag will be automatically printed out (unless the person’s account is private). Please come to pick up your picture at the Photo Booth located in the European Pain Federation EFIC® Village, at the entrance to the Exhibition Area.

How To Get There

 

Car/ Parking: The venue 7.000 parking spaces: 4.000 indoor and 3.000 free outdoor.

Feria Valencia has covered parking connected with their pavilions. The tariff per minute is 0.03 Euros. The full day rate with advance payment is 15.30 €, for advance payment it will be required to redeem the ticket for parking in the box early.

About Public Transportation 

For metro (subway and tram) and bus (EMT) transport, it is possible to buy cards called bonos in kiosks and tobacco shops. These are used for up to 10 trips. The cards are contactless and can be topped up and changed to different types once empty. There are a few different cards, so make sure you get the right one for your trip. The Metro provides only paper tickets and is sold at the metro ticket machines. For a plastic card that includes the bus, you will need to buy at tobacconists, authorized kiosks, and Metro stations.

Bus: Line No. 62 of the EMT Benimamet-Estació Nord. Stops every 10-15 minutes. Please see bus route.

Metro: Line 1, Llíria-Villanueva de Castellón. Stop CarolinesFira (600m from Convention & Exhibition Centre ). Stations: Joaquín Sorolla/Jesús (next to station AVE Joaquin Sorolla), Xativa (next to Valencia Nord train station), for more information please see Metro map.

Internet Stations are available in the Exhibition Area during exhibition hours as well as in the foyer on the second level. Wi-Fi Connection is available throughout the venue for all congress delegates.

EFIC®, the congress organisers and the congress venue cannot accept liability for personal injury, accidents, loss or damages to private property of delegates, either during or indirectly arising from EFIC Congress 2019 “Pain in Europe XI”. Delegates are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their travels and stay in Valencia.

Mobile telephones should be on silent mode during all sessions. Mobile telephones may be required in order to participate in some of the Q&A sessions. Please download the congress App, which can be used on both Apple and Android phones.

Networking Events

 

OPENING CEREMONY & NETWORKING RECEPTION | Wednesday, 4 September at 18:15

The Opening Ceremony is the official starting point of the Pain in Europe XI Congress and will be followed by the Networking Reception in the Exhibition Area. The Networking Reception provides a wonderful opportunity for you to greet old friends and meet new ones.

All registered participants are invited to attend.

NETWORKING DINNER | Friday, 6 September at 19:30

The Networking Dinner will take place at the Oceanogràfic, the largest marine park in Europe. This unique setting is also home to the longest underwater tunnel and the only family of beluga whales in Europe. Located in the avant-garde architectural complex of Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències in Valencia, the aquarium is a true tribute to the seas and oceans of the planet and contains large aquariums which faithfully reproduce the most important marine ecosystems.

Tickets include exclusive entrance into the marine park in Europe and standing dinner reception with drinks. More detailed transportation information, including the time of arrivals & departures, will be provided to registered participants prior to the event.

Tickets for this evening are limited and are only available to registered Pain in Europe XI delegates, so please begin the registration process and secure your place.

Non-Registered Persons

 

All event activities (including educational sessions, meal functions, exhibit hall, etc.) are exclusively reserved for registered attendees. Non-registered persons (including children, family members, colleagues, etc.) will not be permitted in any of the event areas. Badges provided at registration are required for entrance into all functions and will be strictly enforced.

The Open Auditorium is located in the centre of the Exhibition Area directly in front of the EFIC Hall.

The EFIC Press Room is located in room 3H on the 3rd level. Journalists, writers or bloggers may register and attend Pain in Europe XI, however media accreditation for congress will only be awarded to those able to demonstrate that they work for a recognised media organisation and/or that they are on an official assignment from a recognised media organisation. All media delegates are encouraged to apply for accreditation in advance for a smoother check-in experience and ensured entry. EFIC® reserves the right to accept or reject any request for media credentials.

Registration

Registration for the 11th Congress of the European Pain Federation, Pain in Europe XI is available here. Once the registration has been completed, a confirmation will be sent via Email. Participants can pick up their registration credentials at the Registration Area located on Level 4 (Main Entrance) of the Feria Valencia. You may scan the barcode on your registration confirmation to self-print your badge, or you may visit the counter and have it printed for you.

Smoking

Pain in Europe XI is a strictly non-smoking event. The designated smoking area is outside the main entrance on the 4th floor.

Located on the 2nd floor, in rooms 2C, 2B, and 2A. We ask that all speakers come to the Speakers Service Centre as soon as possible to hand in their presentations, at the very latest 2 hours before your scheduled session.

Tourist Information

There is a tourist information point located on the left side of the Entrance Foyer on the 4th Level. You may visit the Valencia Tourist Info desk during the congress general opening times. You will also find a tourist point with specific information relevant for Pain in Europe XI delegates at the Valencia Airport, as well as multiple places in the city centre.

Feria Valencia is an institutional exhibition centre of reference in organising and hosting national and international events in a unique Mediterranean setting. With a century of existence, Feria Valencia is the oldest  venue in event organizing, (1917) as well as having the largest exhibition area in Spain, among one of the ten largest in the world with a total area of over 230,000 square meters.

Weather in Valencia

Located on the southeastern coast of Spain, Valencia is home to the typical Mediterranean climate. During early-September, expect the weather to be sunny with clear skies.

Temperature

September’s average temperature is around 22° C/ 72° F but is slightly warmer at the start of the month. In the night, expect moderate temperatures with lows of 17°C/ 63° F, so it is recommended to wear a few light layers. High temperatures can still be expected during early-September, reaching up to 27°C/ 81°F.

Rainfall

There is a greater expectation of wet weather in Valencia in September. There is an average rainfall of 47mm throughout the month and a 24% chance of rain overall.

Wellbeing & Yoga

Join us for a morning yoga session at 07:30 every day of the congress. Meet us in the Exhibition Area, behind the Participants List. Mats will be provided on a first come first serve basis. You may also bring your own mat. The yoga practice will be appropriate to all yoga levels. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes. Changing areas will be provided.
